Do the blogs with the most number of nominations (like the top five) make it to the voting round, or do all blogs with nominations move on? It seems like that could get crowded if all blogs that are nominated move on.... Just a thought. In brief, my plan is to post the list of nominations then ask for feedback regarding which nominations should actually get carried into the voting. I expect we will have some blogs nominated in the inappropriate category, etc. A lot under some categories, etc. Based on previous years input a run-off to get the nominations down to the top 5 does make sense. I will be keeping track of the number of times a blog is nominated, and I can report that.
So, hopefully I will be capturing enough information, if not maybe we can do some sort of run off. And, as far as the process to be followed, I will not be deciding myself. i will be posing the questions here and looking for feedback.
A nomination came in for: The Journey "Elavator speech". I am assuming the post it references is: No More Elevator Speech. If not could someone please correct me?
ReplyDeleteIn the category of "Best New Blog" there is a nomination for The Journey. Archives appear to go back a while. I wonder what constitutes "New".
ReplyDeleteI assumed new was within the past year?
ReplyDeleteThat was my assumption as well. So, I think we have our first invalid nomination. We never really defined the categories. But if we did i would assume that you would be eligible for a blog award in the category of "Best New Blog" in the year in which the blog is begun.
ReplyDeleteI feel comfortable with that. I took "New" to mean "started since the last Blog Awards."
ReplyDeleteAnother nomination has come in which I would immediately put in the "does not qualify" category. A nomination for The Daily Scribe. Which is not a community blog, but rather an aggregation of UU blogs, like UUpdates but with other non UU categories, and fewer UU. the important thing being that an aggregation does not provide it's own content.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that Happy Feminist was nominated for at least one award. While I love the HF blog, the blogger herself has been away from her blog (and unresponsive) since at least November. I wouldn't say this disqualifies her, but just wanted to give you a heads up in case you didn't know (and try to contact her).
ReplyDeleteFor inclusiveness I added some of the nominees I have questions about. I denoted them with red "???". I'll write more about that later, probably when nominees are final.
ReplyDeleteLooks like some sort of run off process is probably called for. Multiple nominees in each category and all.
Though it's true HF hasn't posted since November, I think we should keep her in.
